The Art of Staying In Touch, May 24 - June 16, 2019
Visual Exchanges between Joyce Majiski & Zea Morvitz
Joyce Majiski, a Canadian artist living near Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, and Zea Morvitz, an American artist living in Inverness, California have been exchanging and collaborating on art projects in one form or another since 2011. Their first project was a weekly postcard exchange, titled 52 x 2. The artists made a commitment to send each other a handmade postcard every Friday for the entire year. As the postcards flew back and forth, the artists moved from single cards to ever more elaborate structures, including pop-ups and enclosed books. The deal was, anything goes—as long as whatever got mailed fit within a 5 x 7 inch footprint. This project set the tone for another 8 years of art exchange and collaboration.
